Bismarck, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today joined Job Service North Dakota (JSND) in officially launching North Dakota's enhanced career Web site, featuring more than 14,000 available jobs and more than 10,000 resumes of potential job candidates. The new Web site enhances the previous site with features including Job Spidering, a powerful workforce technology that retrieves job postings from other Web sites.
"FindJobsND.com stands out among other job search Web sites because it is the largest site completely dedicated to North Dakota and the local labor market," Hoeven said. "In addition to the online services, job seekers and employers can receive personal assistance with their job or candidate searches from 16 Job Service offices statewide."
Hoeven and JSND Executive Director Maren Daley said FindJobsND.com fills a vital role for businesses who say finding employees is one of their top challenges in North Dakota, where the unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the nation. The goal of the enhanced Web site is to facilitate more successful matches between businesses and the employees they need.
"FindJobsND.com is a place where employers and job seekers can connect, whether to find jobs or find employees," Daley said. "The recent improvements we have made to the Web site have helped us attract more job listings and an even larger labor pool from which to recruit talented employees and improve businesses."
Because of the site's new capacity, people looking for jobs in North Dakota need to visit only one Web site, FindJobsND.com, where they will find job openings from corporate Web sites, educational institutions, government agencies, hospitals, newspapers, private job boards and other sources. This is made possible by the Job Spidering feature that searches for job listings on other Web sites and publishes the details of those external listings at FindJobsND.com.
Other Features: Employers and job seekers who register on FindJobsND.com can customize their account settings and have access to additional features such as:
The Virtual Recruiter: This feature allows job seekers to identify the type of job they are interested in and employers to flag specific skills they are seeking in a job candidate. The "Virtual Recruiter" then pre-screens job postings and resumes and notifies the employer or job seeker with new postings that fit their selected requirements. Customized Searches: Job seekers can use FindJobsND.com to search for jobs by location in North Dakota, occupational group, employer name, required education and experience, desired salary and fringe benefits, and more. They can apply for jobs or create online resumes to be submitted to employers via the Web site. Employers can search for job seeker resumes based on the skills and training the job seekers possess. Employers can save the resumes of their favorite applicants for future review and may contact job candidates through FindJobsND.com. Simplified Job Postings:FindJobsND.com makes it easy for employers to post job orders by pre-selecting common skills and requirements for most job categories. This saves employers time and eliminates the need to enter all the job requirements themselves.
Labor Market Information: FindJobsND.com gives users easy access to North Dakota labor market information, including the highest-paying and fastest-growing jobs in the area. Job seekers and employers can also use the Web site to compare labor market wage rates.
JSND did a "soft launch" of the improved online job search and recruitment system in January. JSND is partnering with the North Dakota Department of Commerce on a statewide advertising campaign, beginning in August, to encourage job seekers and employers to use FindJobsND.com.
Commerce Commissioner Shane Goettle said the partnership helps both agencies address functions that the business community is demanding. "We have traveled the state extensively throughout the past year talking to business people about workforce and energy issues," Goettle said. "The biggest single request from employers is more employees. This expanded Web site is a big step forward and provides a great tool for job seekers and businesses in need of workers."
FindJobsND.com is the Web site for the JSND job search and recruitment services. Information regarding other services such as unemployment insurance and workforce investment and training can be found at the official JSND Web site, jobsnd.com. Job seekers and employers can navigate to FindJobsND.com by visiting jobsnd.com and clicking ‘Find a Job' or ‘Post a Job.'
